LiDAR hardware

At the heart of Smart Apply is LiDAR hardware that is positioned at the front of the sprayer. Using this laser technology, scanning 270 degrees, the system collects 24,000 data points per second, day or night, to create a digital blueprint of your canopy. This data is processed in real-time and a signal is then sent through the control box to each individual nozzle on your sprayer. That signal then controls when the solenoids fire, ensuring every nozzle is applying chemical only on your canopy at the exact right place and time.

Data collection

Smart Apply doesn’t just optimise spraying—it also captures valuable data. Inside the tractor cab, a tablet runs Smart Apply’s software, gathering real-time information from the LiDAR and pre-set configurations. The tablet is set up to mirror the exact layout of your sprayer, ensuring seamless operation. As you spray, the system automatically maps out key data points, including:

Cloud reporting

How Smart Apply® works

The Smart Apply system applies chemical where it’s needed. The system uses LiDAR to determine distance, size, density, and count of every tree being sprayed. Using data from the LiDAR, Smart Apply automatically delivers the right amount of spray to the canopy using PWM nozzles. Growers can expect an average reduction in chemical use of 50% but as high as 90% in younger, less dense orchards. Smart Apply captures and uploads a variety of valuable job and tree data to the cloud for analysation after the job is complete.
